System Senior Management Team

The System Senior Management Team meets quarterly to:

  • Develop the system strategic plan and goals
  • Improve organizational performance measurements
  • Approve systemwide policies
  • Review, discuss and approve systemwide strategies
  • Review, discuss and monitor strategy teams and task forces
  • Deliberate on high-level system issues

John D. Oliverio
President and Chief Executive Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

John D. Oliverio was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in June 2000. Oliverio originally joined WFH in 1984 as Senior Vice President of Finance, and in 1989 he became Executive Vice President. In January 1998, he began serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for WFH. Oliverio received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University in Chicago, and a master’s of management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Oliverio also is a certified public accountant. Additionally, he serves as a board member for more than 25 health care organizations and associations’ boards of directors.


Kenneth R. Buser
President and Chief Executive Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare—All Saints

Kenneth R. Buser, President and Chief Executive Officer, joined WFH-All Saints in April 1999. Prior to joining WFH-All Saints, Buser was employed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He received a bachelor’s degree in modern languages from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s of business administration degree with a concentration in hospital administration from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago. Buser is a Board Member for Sustainable Racine, Racine Area Economic Development Corporation, Wisconsin Health and Hospital Association, The Healthcare Advisory Board with Congressman Paul Ryan, and is a Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives.


Jack Dusenbery
President and Chief Executive Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare—Iowa

Jack Dusenbery joined WFH-Iowa in Waterloo as President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2003. Prior to joining WFH-Iowa, Dusenbery served as Chief Executive Officer of Tenet Healthcare's East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Dusenbery received a bachelor’s of science and a master’s of arts from the University of Iowa. In addition, he is a diplomat in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Daniel E. Neufelder
Chief Executive Officer
Affinity Health System

Daniel E. Neufelder joined Affinity Health System as President and Chief Executive Officer in March 2006. Prior to joining Affinity, Neufelder served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Memorial Hospital of South Bend in Indiana. Neufelder received a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Southern Indiana and a master’s of business administration from the University of Indianapolis. In addition, he has served as a Healthy Communities Fellow for the 2000 AHA Health Forum.


Richard O. Schmidt, Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer
United Hospital System

Richard O. Schmidt, Jr., has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel of United Hospital System since 1986. He was appointed to that role following two years of service as the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for United. Prior to joining United, Schmidt served as a health care attorney and consultant for Management Science Associates, Inc. Schmidt earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and his juris doctorate and post-doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri. He is a diplomat in the American College of Healthcare Executives; a member of the American Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association and the Missouri Bar Association; and a member of numerous civic and community organizations.


Kathleen C. Yosko
President and Chief Executive Officer
Marianjoy

Kathleen C. Yosko joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare as President and Chief Executive Officer of Marianjoy, Inc., in November 1998. Prior to joining Marianjoy, Yosko served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital and Care Network in Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Yosko also received a master’s degree in business administration from the Keller Graduate School of Business in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Yosko’s current professional appointments include member of the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Association (CARF), American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA), Illinois Hospital & Healthcare Association, Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council, Access DuPage, and the East West Corporate Corridor Association. She also has served as the past chairman of CARF and AMRPA.

William H. Blum
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

William H. Blum joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in October 1989 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining WFH, he was employed as an auditor at Laventhol and Horwath, certified public accountants in Chicago, and was a partner of the firm from 1984 to 1989. Blum received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and is a certified public accountant. He serves on several finance committees and boards within the Wheaton Franciscan System and is a member of various organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society and the Health Care Financial Management Association. Blum also serves on various boards, including the Preferred Professional Insurance Company board, the People’s Resource Center board and the Board of Directors of Samaritan Interfaith Council.

Terrance P. McGuire
Senior Vice President, Mission Services
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Terrance P. McGuire, EdD, serves as Senior Vice President of Mission Services for the Wheaton Franciscan System. In this role, he is responsible for the systemwide mission integration, spiritual care and ethics. McGuire joined WFH in 2002 as Vice President of Mission Integration. He has more than 30 years of experience as an educator, consultant and health care leader previously serving in a similar senior leadership capacity at Alexian Brothers Health System in Elk Grove, Illinois, for 18 years. He is well known within Catholic health care, and is actively involved with the Catholic Health Association of the United States.

Jon L. Wachs
Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Jon L. Wachs is Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Wachs has been working in health care for 30 years, including eight years in the organization’s Milwaukee region. Wachs served as Executive Vice President in Milwaukee prior to taking on the position of Senior Vice President of Operations for the System in June 2000 and his most recent position in March 2006. Previously, Wachs served as Chief Operating Officer for Santa Rosa Health System, San Antonio, Texas, and Chief Operating Officer for St. Mary's Hospital, Milwaukee. He also worked as a management consultant for a national consulting firm. Wachs holds a bachelor of arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, a master of arts degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, and a master’s of management degree from the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School in Evanston, Illinois.

Richard J. Canter
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Richard J. Canter, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, is responsible for all legal services across the Wheaton Franciscan System, including retention of outside legal counsel, corporate compliance and contract management. Canter brings 29 years of experience to this role. Most recently, he served as a partner and a member of Michael Best & Friedrich’s Health Care Practice Group. Since 1976, he has provided legal representation to health care clients on regulatory and reimbursement matters, corporate and tax issues, medical staff matters, bioethics, Medicare-Medicaid anti-fraud and abuse, and issues affecting non-profit institutions. In addition, he has significant experience representing clients with respect to complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, hospital affiliations and joint ventures among health care providers. Canter received a law degree from Hofstra University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Debra K. Standridge
President
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare—St. Francis

Debra K. Standridge, President, joined WFH-St. Francis in 2001 as Vice President – Operations. She became President in 2003. Previously, Standridge served as Administrator for General Medicine, Geriatrics and Oncology at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. She received a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Her well-defined leadership skills in exceeding operating margins, reducing expenses, and in general, taking an organization to new heights is due to her extraordinary ability to engage and empower key stakeholders, whether they are direct-line managers, staff, political leaders or donors.
