Wheaton Franciscan Sisters

The Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, sponsor Wheaton Franciscan Services, Inc., and to this day directly influence the mission of the organization.

The Sisters came to the United States in 1872, settling in St. Louis where they established the U.S. Province of St. Clara. In 1947, the province headquarters were relocated to Wheaton, Illinois, and the Sisters later became known as the Wheaton Franciscans.

The international congregation has provinces in France, Germany, Holland and Indonesia, with Sisters also serving in Brazil, Italy, Malawi, and Romania.
