John D. Oliverio
President and Chief Executive Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


John D. Oliverio is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. He joined the organization in 1984 as Senior Vice President of Finance, became Executive Vice President in 1989, Chief Operating Officer in 1998, and was appointed President and CEO in 2000. John has led the organization’s move to integrate delivery systems across markets, expand physician services, and create innovative physician partnerships. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University in Chicago, and a Master of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. A certified public accountant, John has served as a board member for more than 25 organizations and associations.   

Susan Boland
President, South Market, Southeast Wisconsin Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Susan Boland has responsibility for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints in Racine. Susan joined Wheaton in September 1995. She most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. Prior to All Saints, Susan was the Associate Vice President for Nursing at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Xavier University and a master’s degree from Rush University. Susan is a board member of The Healthcare Network and the Racine Art Museum.

Brenda J. Bowers

Senior Vice President, Organizational Change and Leadership Performance

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Brenda J. Bowers, PhD, brings more than 25 years of health care experience to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.  In her role as Senior Vice President of Organizational Change and Leadership Performance, she is responsible for executive oversight of the patient experience, systemwide development of leaders, orientation of new associates, the associate partnership survey process, 360-degree evaluations of leaders, diversity and cultural competence initiatives, clinical development including e-learning, and library services. Brenda received her bachelor’s degree from St. Martin’s College and Seminary, a graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and her doctoral degree from Walden University. She is actively involved in the community as a speaker on health care disparities in urban settings, a Christian leader, role model and advocate.  In 2006, Brenda was recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a Woman of Influence in the category of Inspiration. She published her dissertation on “Executives transitioning from a silo to a systems-based approach in a complex healthcare organization.”

 

Richard J. Canter

Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Affairs

Richard J. Canter, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Affairs, has oversight of strategic planning, business development, legal services, corporate compliance, risk management, communication/public relations and marketing. Prior to joining Wheaton, he served as Managing Partner and a member of Michael Best and Friedrich’s Health Care Practice Group. Richard brings more than 30 years of experience to his position, having provided legal representation to health care clients on regulatory and reimbursement matters, corporate and tax issues, medical staff matters, bioethics, Medicare-Medicaid anti-fraud and abuse, and issues affecting non-profit institutions. He also has significant experience representing clients with respect to complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, hospital affiliations and joint ventures among health care providers. Richard received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a law degree from Hofstra University. He was appointed Chairperson of the Wisconsin Health and Educational Facilities Authority (WHEFA) Board where he has served as a board member since 2008. Richard also serves on the YMCA Metropolitan Milwaukee Board of Directors, the Advisory Board for the University of WI – Milwaukee College of Health Sciences, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee.

Coreen Dicus-Johnson

Senior Vice President, Physician and Revenue Operations

Coreen Dicus-Johnson is the Senior Vice President of Physician and Revenue Operations for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. She is responsible for the Management Services Organization that oversees operations of Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group, as well as payer contracting and revenue operations in Southeast Wisconsin. Before joining Wheaton, Coreen was an employee benefits consultant at Frank F. Haack & Associates, Inc. She also spent nine years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin in various roles as an attorney and a director of corporate development. She holds a law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Coreen was named one of Milwaukee’s “Forty under 40” in 2007.

Jack Dusenbery

President and Chief Executive Officer

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Iowa

 

Jack Dusenbery joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Iowa in Waterloo/Cedar Falls as President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2003. Prior to joining Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Iowa, Jack spent 18 years with Tenet Healthcare, including leadership positions in Tampa, Florida, Portland, Oregon and Charleston, South Carolina. Jack has been active in numerous community and professional organizations and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Jack received a Bachelor of Science degree and a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Iowa.

Wayne Frangesch
Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Organization Development
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Wayne Frangesch serves as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Wayne joined the organization in June 1996 as an HR Representative at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - St. Francis. He has worked in various HR leadership roles in Milwaukee, Racine, and Iowa, and was appointed Vice President of Human Resources in January 2006 and Senior Vice President in July 2009. Wayne holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration on human resources and labor economics and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Wayne has also taught as a member of the adjunct faculty for Cardinal Stritch University and serves as a mentor for graduates entering the workforce as part of UW-Milwaukee’s Economics Mentoring Program.

James Gresham
Senior Vice-President, Continuing Care and Clinical Operations in Southeast Wisconsin

Jim Gresham is Senior Vice President of Continuing Care and Clinical Operations for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Southeast Wisconsin. He is responsible for the Wheaton Franciscan transitional care facilities in the Milwaukee area, Wheaton Franciscan Home Health, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, Senior Health, Pharmacy Enterprises, Medical Equipment Team, Laboratory Services, and Rehabilitation Services. Jim joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in 1989, serving as President of Marian Franciscan Center. He has an extensive history in continuing care, including leadership positions in the areas of transitional care and behavioral health throughout Wisconsin. Jim was involved in crafting Wisconsin state regulations on long-term care while employed with the Wisconsin Nursing Home Ombudsman Program in the offices of Governors Martin J. Schreiber and Lee S. Dreyfus. A pioneer in the provision of sub-acute care in Southeast Wisconsin, Gresham has spoken and has been published nationally on topics relating to sub-acute care and continuing care services. He is professionally licensed as a Wisconsin Nursing Home Administrator, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics/political science from UW-Whitewater and a master’s degree in political science/public administration from UW-Milwaukee.


 

Rita Hanson, MD
Interim Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Information Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Rita Hanson, MD is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. She is responsible for Clinical Quality, Care Management, and Clinical Informatics.

She previously served as Chief Medical Information Officer where she led the Clinical Informatics Department and was responsible for the implementation and ongoing optimization of the electronic health record in both the hospital and outpatient setting. 

Dr. Hanson served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus from 2005 to 2012 adding The Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campus in 2009. As a practicing internist until 2012, Dr. Hanson’s group received 12 consecutive best practice awards from PPRNet for performance above the 90th percentile on multiple clinical quality benchmarks. 

Dr. Hanson is a graduate of Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine in 1976, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Wisconsin – Mt. Sinai Milwaukee campus in 1979, and is board-certified in Internal Medicine. In 2010, Dr. Hanson was the recipient of the Helen Dickey Award for Outstanding Woman Physician from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

 

Sarah Herzog
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Sarah Herzog is the General Counsel for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. She is responsible for legal services across the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare system and heads the Office of General Counsel. Sarah has provided legal representation to the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare system since 1996. Before joining Wheaton in 2005 as in-house legal counsel, Sarah was an equity partner with the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich where she served as the chair of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group. She holds a law degree from SUNY Buffalo and a post-graduate LL.M. in Health Law from Loyola University in Chicago. She earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Sarah has built a reputation as one of the Midwest’s leading attorneys specializing in health law, regularly speaking and teaching on health law related topics. In 2003, she was named one of Chicago’s “Forty Under 40” Illinois Attorneys to Watch.

 

Mike Lepore
Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare

Mike Lepore is Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare with oversight of Information Services, Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, Security, and Real Estate.  Prior to joining Wheaton, he served on the Wheaton Franciscan Services Board for seven years. 

Mike has more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry having held senior management positions at Wells Fargo, Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, and GE Capital Mortgage Insurance Corporation. Most recently, he led an initiative for the nonprofit organization, Victory Junction Camp, to build a state-of-the-art, medical camping facility in Kansas for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. Mike is also a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, which provides free transportation for anyone in need of medical treatment.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

 

Dan Mattes
President, Central Market, Southeast Wisconsin
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Dan Mattes has responsibility for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Franklin and St. Francis and the Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. He is also accountable for Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group in the Central Market. Dan has been with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare since 1992 serving in a series of progressive positions including financial analyst, strategic financial planning, cash management and treasury services, and Senior Vice President of Business Development. Dan was promoted to his current position in September 2008. He has a broad knowledge of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s complex business environment evidenced by his significant contributions to the development of The Wisconsin Heart Hospital and Franklin.

Dan has a bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin -Whitewater and a Master of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Dan was named one of Milwaukee’s “Forty under 40” in 2006.

 

Terri Rocole
Senior Vice President, Mission Services
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Terri Rocole joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in October 1988, and brings more than 22 years of experience in Catholic health care to her current position of Senior Vice President of Mission Services. She is a team-oriented, values-driven ministry leader with extensive, broad-based experience in mission integration, organizational development, community relations, and business operations. As Senior Vice President of Mission Services, Terri provides leadership for the integration of the mission and values of the Wheaton Franciscan System into the strategic direction, operational management and daily life of all Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare organizations and ministries.

Terri earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, a Master of Business Administration degree from Athabasca University in Canada, and a Master of Education in Ministry degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. In April 2010, Terri received the Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Award from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. The G.O.L.D Award recognizes alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years, and have distinguished themselves through early excellence in their profession, service to their community, and/or service to Cardinal Stritch.


Richard  O. Schmidt, Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer
United Hospital System


Richard O. Schmidt, Jr. has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel of United Hospital System since 1986. He was appointed to that role following two years of service as the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for United. Prior to United, Richard served as a health care attorney and consultant for Management Science Associates, Inc. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and his juris doctorate and post-doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri. He is a diplomat in the American College of Healthcare Executives; a member of the American Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association and the Missouri Bar Association; and a member of numerous civic and community organizations.

Greg Smith
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare


Greg Smith has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare since 1999. In this role, he is responsible for planning, implementation and support of information related technologies and services for Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. Greg has developed and implemented a comprehensive clinical strategy for the System for the redesign of care delivery processes and deployment of the Electronic Health Record. He began his career with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in 1984 serving in increasingly progressive roles. Greg also serves on the Strategic Advisory Council to McKesson Provider Technologies and the Healthcare Executive Committee of Hewlett Packard. Greg received his MBA from Cardinal Stritch University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Monmouth College in Illinois. Greg is active in many community organizations and has lectured at Marquette University, the Academy of Health Services Marketing, the American College of Health Care Marketing, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and several corporations.

 

Jon Sohn
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jon Sohn is Chief Financial Officer for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Jon joined the Milwaukee operations of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in May 2003 as Regional Vice President of Financial Services. He was promoted to the system position of Senior Vice President in 2007 and later promoted to system Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2009. He is an accomplished financial executive with an accounting degree from Marquette University, a Masters of Management Degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Prior to joining Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Jon worked as a Senior Manager at a large CPA firm where he consulted with the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare organization as one of his major clients. Known as a strong and effective leader, he is skilled in building high impact teams who are driven to grow both revenue and margin while optimizing working capital. He is active in the community and serves on multiple boards of directors. Jon was named one of Milwaukee’s “Forty under 40” in 2008

Debra K. Standridge
President, North Market, Southeast Wisconsin
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare  


Debra Standridge has responsibility for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Elmbrook Memorial, Wheaton Franciscan - St. Joseph and The Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campuses, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Wauwatosa and Brown Deer. She is also accountable for Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group in the North Market. Debra joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in 2001 as Vice President of Operations for St. Francis and was appointed president in 2003. She was named President of the North Market in September 2008. Previously, Debra served for seven years as Administrator for Cardiology, General Medicine, Geriatrics and Oncology at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. She received a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and music education from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Debra holds strong leadership skills in exceeding operating margins, reducing expenses, and in general, creating a successful organization. Debra has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to engage and empower key stakeholders, whether they are direct-line managers, staff, political leaders, or donors.

 

Kathleen C. Yosko
President and Chief Executive Officer
Marianjoy, Inc.


Since 1998, Kathleen Yosko has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Marianjoy, Inc., Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital and Marianjoy Medical Group in Wheaton, Illinois. Prior to joining Marianjoy, Kathleen served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital and Care Network, a 125-bed comprehensive rehabilitation facility. She began her career as a registered nurse/clinical specialist in rehabilitation at the Veterans Hospital University and Highland Drive Campuses in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the Vietnam War. In 2007, Kathleen was appointed chair of the board of directors of the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA), a nonprofit trade organization representing freestanding rehabilitation hospitals, rehabilitation units in general hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, several skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies that provide medical rehabilitation services to over 700,000 people annually. She is also active in many other professional organizations.
